Pacifica High School was established in 2001. It occupies approximately 50 acres (200,000 m2) of originally fertile agricultural land, and was designed by WLC Architects[2] to accommodate up to 2,250 students. There are 9 major buildings on campus comprising nearly 205,000 square feet (19,000 m2). Sixteen portable classrooms have been added to accommodate the increasing student population.
Pacifica contains three academies: The Health Science Academy (established 2006, California Golden Bell winner in 2008), the Teaching & Educational Careers Academy (established 2007) and the Culinary Arts Academy (established 2010).
In November 2011, a campus security guard was arrested for sending sexually explicit messages to underage girls.[3]
